Abstract
Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) to promote renewable Renewable energy sources and to facilitate purchase obligations (RPO). BE have been successfully implemented market-based instruments from different countries like the U.S. used to the United Kingdom, Denmark, Japan, Australia and the Netherlands, to promote renewable energy development. In India, these instruments are in the Power Exchanges are traded, approved by Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) with a cap and floor price. These instruments will provide much needed support not only for the renewable energy market, but also the efforts of the government to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. REC is also in reducing the gap between the essential renewable potential of the various states in the country and the RPOs from the State Electricity Regulatory Commission mandated (SERCs).
Scope
– The study describes the Indian market for renewable energy, focusing on the most recent incentives from the government.
– Moreover, the Indian market is Renewable Energy presented statistics on the cumulative historical and forecast installed capacity during 2001-2015.
– It also briefs on carbon emissions from primary energy sources during 2001-2009.
– Renewable Energy Certificates (REC), regulations on them and their significance discussed in the study.
